I am a professor of computer science with more than 30 years of professional experience in software engineering, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, software architecture, and technical leadership. My career has included work as a software engineer, intelligent systems engineer, principal engineer, software architect, development manager, engineering director, and vice president of technology and engineering.

In addition to being a full-time professor, I am a partner, consultant, and senior scientist working in software engineering, data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and industrial process control and prediction.

My academic background includes economics, finance, and computer science, with bachelor's degrees in finance and economics, an MS in computer science, and a PhD in computer science with a concentration in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and complex time-series analysis.

My current academic work focuses heavily on the role of generative AI in computer science education and intellectual work. I developed Intellectual Agency , a framework for using AI as intellectual leverage while preserving human ownership of understanding, judgment, verification, and final responsibility.

I also created the AI-Integrated Classroom , the educational implementation of Intellectual Agency. In my courses, AI is integrated directly into the learning process while students remain responsible for understanding their work, evaluating and verifying AI output, explaining their decisions, and demonstrating what they have learned.
